Practical Tips When Starting your own Business

When you take that leap of faith and decide to take your idea to the next step and “Start your Own Business” aside from the legal, taxation and financial aspects there are lots of other elements to consider, from a business perspective and on a personal level too.

Practical Tips When Starting your own Business

Before you start You Must 100% Believe in What You are Doing “Manifestation” is Real and The Laws of Attraction are Real Too!

Before you have even sold a product, done a days work or launched your business, you must Live, Breath, Talk and have every single detail planned and visualized.

You cant start off with one foot in the water, you need to be ready to Dive in and Swim for your Life!

Preparation and Planning is Key to Success !

You can only make a First Impression Once……

So you have a Business Plan in Mind, you need to figure out a few things first.

  • Who is Your Target Market? Based on your service, industry you are in or product your selling, everything has a targeted market and you must know yours. You need to know their location, average age, gender, average budget they spend on  service/products similar to what you have.  Learning about what your customers want is key to success. No matter what industry you are in, you are “Selling” and the most important part of “Selling is Listening”  Get on the phone, send an email, get out and about and speak to your potential customers and let them tell you how you can best meet their needs with the services you propose to provide.
  • How do you get your business in front of your potential customers? Marketing & Advertising is the obvious answer, but very often there isn’t a big budget if any when starting off your own business. The truth is there are no quick fix marketing magic or advertising genius idea that you can be guaranteed will work. It is all trial and error at the beginning until you find what works for your individual business. But you can from the start generate content online. There is no point in spending money on advertising campaigns when you haven’t enough online content generated.  Get on social media platforms, register on every free online business listing. Take photos, videos and write about your new business, latest works and services you provide.  Once you know your target market, you have generated an online footprint posting and sharing content, you can then tailor an advertising campaign that will work for your business and your potential customers. Traditional Marketing is always a winner, Ask for referrals, Ask for reviews, Hand out Your Business Cards, Join Local Community Groups on Social Media and utilize every free online platform you can.
  • Who is your competition? Knowing your competition is essential for lots of reasons. Firstly they have been in the industry and they have first hand experience of the pitfalls you could potentially face. I would always encourage people to work with their competitors rather than against them. Try and work alongside each other rather than against each other. Having competition means their is a  market for what you are doing already in place ready to tap into, expand and develop. Look at their rates, services, who are their customers and how do they advertise or promote their business. What does their brand say about them? Conduct a complete evaluation of your competition and once you are certain that there is room for you in the industry or location of choice take on board all of what your competitors are doing and learn from it. Use what knowledge you have gained to develop your own business plan and the brand you want to create.
  • What makes you Different ? It is not always possible to stand out from your competition it can depend on the industry you are in or the service you provide. However there has to be something unique to you that will make your customers come back to you rather than go to the same business down the road. It is not always price that plays a key factor into a persons decision to buy, of course it needs to be affordable to them but more importantly they need to have customer satisfaction working with you or using your services. It can be the simple details that make the customer get a welcoming atmosphere in your business location or the feeling of having had value for money, quality of products or confidence in what service you provided.  All of these things make you unique, so focus on your Unique Selling Points they are what will help you build a customer base that will remain loyal to you.
  • Developing a Brand and Creating Brand awareness. Once you have segmented your target market and you know who your potential customers are.. You then need to develop a brand that visually represents your business and attracts the potential target market you are intending reaching. Once you have created your branding you can then produce marketing material and start working on brand awareness and advertising campaigns. Be sure to keep uniform right across all of your marketing material both in printed and digital formats to allow for brand recognition to develop.
